Man, that sucks. I remember seeing this on Make, along with some info on how to make your contact information pop up on the splash screen (it looked heinously complicated — something about editing the firmware).
There’s also the theory that you should store your emergency contact information in your cell phone under contact name “ICE” (that’s “in case of emergency”), which sounds like a pretty good idea.
