For those of us that dont have iPods…

admin

If you are too broke to afford a new mp3 player but still want music you like on the go, the web offers some help. However by “on the go” I really mean on a computer.

So if your stuck at an internship, or at your summer job doing office work and you really need some familiar music the following services may help:
Launch: Launch or Yahoo! Music allows you to rate bands, songs, and albums to create your own custom radio station. The more you rate, the more your station will be suited to your tastes. Launch also lets you create a “video station.”

Pandora: Pandora is similar to Launch but begins with you choosing your favorite band and Pandora builds a station from there. On the semi-illegal side, some clever kids have found ways to save the songs played on Pandora to your hard drive. Use at your own risk, download here some programming savvy may be needed.

Singingfish: Singingfish is an audio search engine that scours the web for any song you would like. The downside is that it often turns up 30 second demo clips. But usually with some search modifications you can find the song you are looking for.

I’ve found that these three usually get me what I need. But I know that there are more services out there that help one find music. Does anyone use a better service (that doesn’t involve p2p)?

Yahoo music is my preference. Howeve if I don’t care what song plays, I sometimes use one of the ITune’s radio stations.

I love Pandora. It’s simple and a great way to find new music. I know I did. I might look into that downloading program for Pandora, and see if it works..
